The Himes Sisters

Three's a charm for a family showing American Quarter Horses.

It starts off like a typical "girl loves horses" story.

Grace Himes, known to everyone as "Gracie," didn't want to swim at her grandparents' pool. Instead, she was trying to wrangle up her grandparents' pony, "Smokey," so she could go for a ride.

By age 9, she was begging her parents for a horse. It seemed like her first horse was destined to be hers since Sweet And Slow, aka "Patrick," shared a St. Patrick's Day birthday with her.

Gracie came by her love of horses honestly. Mom Penni Himes started riding when she was 9. She became involved in 4-H and then showed on the Appaloosa circuit throughout her childhood. Like mother like daughter.
